The "Passport 2 College" is a "tuition-waived" program offered by DeVry University for high school students to earn college credit in business and technology courses during the summer. Passport 2 College is open to ALL high school students who qualify by May 15, 2009. The only cost to the student is for books and supplies.

"Passport 2 College" (P2C) -- 2009 SUMMER COURSES
Classes meet June 1st - July 2nd on M-T-W-Th for 3-4 hours a day. Times have not yet been determined.

ACCT 212--FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING
This course focuses on ways in which financial statements reflect business operations and emphasizes use of financial statements in the decision-making process. The course encompasses all business forms and various sectors such as merchandising, manufacturing and services. Students make extensive use of spreadsheet applications to analyze accounting records and financial statements.

BUSN 115--INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY
This course introduces business and the environments in which businesses operate. Students examine the roles of major functional areas of business and interrelationships among them. Organizational theorems and techniques are examined, and economic, cultural, political and technological factors affecting business organizations are evaluated.

CLS 100--Laboratory Science Career Entry Exploration & Phlebotomy
Students explore career opportunities associated with professions in pathology, the science which seeks to understand changes in function and structure of organs, tissues, cells and their body fluids that lead to disease and death. Students interact with other members of the healtchare team to understand the role of the clinical laboratory scientist. Special emphasis is placed o the practice of phlebotomy and securing specimens for testing. Phoenix: 2 credit hours, 3 days week, M-T-W

ECET 100--INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY WITH LAB
This course introduces basic concepts of the electronics and computer engineering technology field, including electronic components, introductory circuit analysis, digital logic, computer usage and design of microcontroller-based electronic systems using a flowchart approach.

GSP 110--INTRODUCTION TO GAME & SIMULATION DEVELOPMENT
This course provides a broad overview of the game industry, and the game development and design process. Topics include game terminology, history of games, genre analysis, platform comparisons, psychological concepts of interactivity, content creation, and game playing and exploration.

NETW 202--INTRODUCTION TO NETWORKING WITH LAB
This course introduces the underlying technology of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and the Internet. Topics include networking media, the Open System Interconnection (OSI) model, transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP), an overview of routing and switching, and small network configuration and troubleshooting. Students prepare and test cabling and become familiar with protocol analyzers.

ALGEBRA
This computerized Math Lab is a prerequisite skill course for some programs. Coursework includes factoring skills and applying technology to solve various types of mathematical problems. Students work at their own pace with a Professor and Student Assistant. This class is limited to 30 students. Days and times TBD.

Note: If a student earns an "A or B" in the NETW202 class, the student is eligible for the Cisco Scholarship - which qualifies for the following programs: BMET, Biomedical Engineering Technology; CET, Computer Engineering Technology; CIS, Computer Information Systems; ECT, Electronics & Computer Technology; EET, Electronics Engineering Technology; GSP, Game and Simulation Programming; HIT, Health Information Techology; NCM, Network & Communications Management; and NSA, Network Systems Administration.

Steps for Passport2College Entry:

  • Complete the application by phone or ONLINE
  • Complete the Registration Forms on campus
  • Parent signature is required for permission to take class
  • Choose the class you wish to take
  • Pick up study materials for the Computerized Placement Test (CPT)
  • Tests must be scheduled
  • Pass the Computerized Placement Test or provide ACT/SAT scores
  • The CPT test is given as follows and must be scheduled:
  • (note: the test takes approximately 2 hours to complete)
    • Mondays, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
    • Tuesdays, 12:00 noon - 5:30 pm
    • Wednesday, Closed
    • Thursday, 12:00 noon - 5:30 pm
    • Friday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
