The "Passport 2 College" is a "tuition-waived" program offered by DeVry
University for high school students to earn college credit in business and
technology courses during the summer. Passport 2 College is open to ALL high school students who qualify by May 1, 2008. The only cost to the student is for books and supplies. "Passport 2 College" (P2C) -- 2008 SUMMER COURSESClasses meet June 2nd - July 1st on M-T-W-Th for 3-4 hours a day. Times have not been determined.ACCT 212--FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING This course focuses on ways in which financial statements reflect business operations and emphasizes use of financial statements in the decision-making process. The course encompasses all business forms and various sectors such as merchandising, manufacturing and services. Students make extensive use of spreadsheet applications to analyze accounting records and financial statements. Phoenix/Mesa Campus: 4 credit hours, 4 days week, M-T-W-Th BUSN 115--INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY This course introduces business and the environments in which businesses operate. Students examine the roles of major functional areas of business and interrelationships among them. Organizational theorems and techniques are examined, and economic, cultural, political and technological factors affecting business organizations are evaluated. Phoenix/Mesa Campus: 3 credit hours, 3 days week, T-W-Th CIS 206--ARCHITECTURE AND OPERATING SYSTEMS WITH LAB This course introduces operating systems concepts by examining a number of operating systems such as Windows, UNIX, and Linux. Students also study typical desktop system hardware, architecture and configuration. Phoenix/Mesa Campus: 4 credit hours, 4 days week, M-T-W-Th ECET 100--INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY WITH LAB This course introduces basic concepts of the electronics and computer engineering technology field, including electronic components, introductory circuit analysis, digital logic, computer usage and design of microcontroller-based electronic systems using a flowchart approach. Phoenix/Mesa Campus: 4 credit hours, 4 days week, M-T-W-Th GSP 110--INTRODUCTION TO GAME & SIMULATION DEVELOPMENT This course provides a broad overview of the game industry, and the game development and design process. Topics include game terminology, history of games, genre analysis, platform comparisons, psychological concepts of interactivity, content creation, and game playing and exploration. Phoenix/Mesa Campus: 3 credit hours, 3 days week, T-W-Th NETW 202--INTRODUCTION TO NETWORKING WITH LAB This course introduces the underlying technology of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and the Internet. Topics include networking media, the Open System Interconnection (OSI) model, transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP), an overview of routing and switching, and small network configuration and troubleshooting. Students prepare and test cabling and become familiar with protocol analyzers.
