Student Handbook - Computer Labs

Electronics Lab
This lab consists of Pentium computerized workstations equipped with a dual-trace oscilloscope, function generator, digital multi-meter and tri-voltage power supply. These workstations are utilized for experiments with electronic circuits. Supporting equipment such as micro-processor trainers, RF generators and frequency counters may be checked out from the stockroom by the use of a current student ID card and a dated signature card.

Physics Lab
The Physics Lab is used to support the Physics courses in the Electronics Engineering Technology and the Electronics Technician programs. It is open only when Physics Lab classes are scheduled.

Network Lab
The Network Lab is used to support Network courses in the business programs. It is open only when Network classes are scheduled.

Computer Labs
The West, West Court, East, and East Court Labs are optimized for a lecture-lab environment. Each lab is equipped with 36 to 40 Pentium workstations and at least one high speed laser printer. The Upstairs Lab has 66 Pentium computers and several fast laserjet printers. This lab also provides an optimal lecture-lab environment.

Lab Hours

Mon - Fri 7am - 10pm
Sat 8am - 5pm

There are exceptions to the listed hours. The TCOM and Networking Labs are not open labs, therefore students may only work in these labs during assigned lab hours or as previously arranged with their instructor.

For example, the labs are not open during:

  • weekends following the first and the fourteenth weeks of each semester
  • final exam week
  • three-day school holiday weekends
  • any holiday when the building is closed

Use of All Laboratories: Access to all laboratory areas and use of lab equipment at times other than scheduled lab periods are restricted. No student will be permitted to work in any lab without permission and direct supervision of instructors or faculty assistants. Students who are doing additional work on an assigned project or working on a project of their own are encouraged to use the facilities, providing they have received permission from the instructor.

Electronics Lab Fees and Fines: There is no laboratory fee for the Electronics programs except in the case of lab equipment breakage. An additional charge will be levied against students for excessive waste, loss, or damage. This charge must be paid before credi will be given for the course. The cost of normal breakage and replacement of equipment use in lab experiments are included in tuition fee.

All items checked out of the stock room must be returned by the end of the lab period, or a daily late charge will be applied. Failure to return the item within fourteen (14) working days will result in an additional charge for replacement. Replacement cost and late return fees are posted throughout the lab areas.
