Student Handbook - LibraryThe DeVry Library exists to support the curriculum by providing books, electronic data bases, periodicals, CD ROMS and computer disks, educational and entertainment videos, and up-to-date reference materials. It contains not only most of the important materials needed for the study of electronics, computers and business, but also those needed for general courses in the curriculum. More than 100 periodicals and journals provide technical, general and leisure reading for the students. The electronic databases include ProQuest through the Internet, Data Pro, Computer Select, SIRS, Arizona Republic and Newsbank. Another section of the Library contains both general fiction and science fiction books. The Sunday editions of some out-of-town newspapers and some daily newspapers, such as The Arizona Republic, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and The New York Times, are also available. In addition to providing reading and research materials, the Library also offers a place for quiet study.Students are encouraged to use the Library's facilities and to consult Ms. Pritchard or her student assistants if they have any questions or need any assistance in locating materials. Fines: The Library allows a one-day grace period before fines for overdue materials are imposed. After that, students are charged fifty cents ($.50) per day that an item is overdue. Special reserve books and movies are charged at one dollar ($1.00) per day. Should a student lose a book, he/she will be charged replacement cost plus any fine that has accrued. Fines may be "paid" with donations of non-perishable food for the food bank. All fines must be paid and books returned before a student can register for another semester, graduate, or have a transcript mailed to a prospective employer. If a student is kept from registering for a new semester because of a past-due library fine, five dollars ($5.00) will be added to his/her fine. Return to: Student Handbook Contents
